The objective is the upkeep of the operationally essential “Commend” communication system. In conjunction with GSM-R, this system provides operationally relevant voice connections between electronic interlocking systems, trackside posts, control centers, tunnel cross-passages and train dispatchers in various emergency and incident scenarios. Furthermore, the system is also used for radio communication with emergency services during tunnel operations and can provide a new communication interface to emergency response organizations by means of TETRA radio.
