Opportunity description

The Carrières des Bringasses et des Grands Fronts constitute a listed natural site belonging to the municipality of BAUX-DE-PROVENCE. Since 2008, the municipality of BAUX-DE-PROVENCE has expressed its intention to direct the operation of the site in accordance with the municipality’s cultural and tourism policy, for a purpose of general interest of an artistic nature, thereby establishing the events organised within this site as a public service activity. The future operator will thus be entrusted with a mission to enhance, operate and manage the cultural and tourist centre at the Carrières des Bringasses et des Grands Fronts site. The enhancement, operation and management of the cultural and tourist centre at the Carrières des Bringasses et des Grands Fronts site are currently entrusted under a public service delegation that will expire on 29 March 2027. The Municipality of Baux-de-Provence wishes to allow the future delegatee selected sufficient time to prepare the first exhibition. This procedure would therefore be concluded during the first quarter of 2026. In 2024, the site welcomed 764,678 visitors, including 693,793 individual visitors and 70,885 visitors in groups. The site is operated by 28 staff members, including 18 on permanent contracts and 10 on fixed-term contracts/as additional staff. The delegatee will create mapping-type Sound and Light projections and perform the following tasks (non-exhaustive list): reception and provision of information to visitors, ticket-office management, management of visits to all indoor and outdoor areas, management of permanent or temporary exhibition spaces, management of activities intended for visitors and educational activities aimed at young audiences, management of the bookshop-boutique, the boutique accessible online through the website dedicated to the Carrières, and commercial areas, creation and distribution of merchandise, tourism promotion, communication and marketing of the site at regional, national and international levels, as necessary for the proper functioning of the public service, management of images, photographs, names, documents and reproductions, subject to intellectual property rights, management of tearoom spaces and activities, management of the provision of spaces for meetings, seminars and receptions, management of any other ancillary exhibition, provided that it directly extends the purpose of the public service delegation and contributes to achieving that purpose, organisation of events and activities intended to increase the site’s profile and visitor numbers, supplies, maintenance, renewal and modernisation of the equipment required for sound and light projections, routine maintenance of the spaces made available under the delegation, and of the facilities and equipment exclusively related to these tasks, as well as their upkeep, and management of personnel associated with the entrusted tasks. The delegatee will operate the service at its own risk. A fee for occupation of the public domain, consisting of a fixed portion and a variable portion, will be paid to the municipality. The delegatee will therefore be selected principally on the basis of its ability to operate, manage and develop a cultural and tourist facility through cultural activities (sound and light exhibitions, live performances, etc.).
