Fundamental renewal of Grünberger Straße Technical planning services for transport facilities Existing situation: Grünberger Straße is a heavily trafficked, built-up main road; it connects the ring road around the city center with places located east of Gießen, such as Rödgen or Großen-Buseck, as well as with the B 49 toward Grünberg – insufficiently large tree pits / green strips – outdated sidewalks – road surfaces in need of renovation – cycle paths partially absent – Dominant motor vehicle traffic – Valuable rainwater is not utilized – Thermal stress – Lack of amenity value in the green areas. Planning objectives: Increase in greenery – Reduction of traffic area – Improvement of tree locations through substrate replacement – Promotion of cycling and pedestrian traffic / expansion of sustainable mobility – Safe cycle connection – Optimization of pedestrian connections – Addition of street furniture – Reduction of CO² emissions and thermal stress – Rainwater management concept – Collection of precipitation water – Measures for the infiltration/evaporation of rainwater – Utilization by means of tree trenches – Improvement of crossing points – Renovation of road surfaces. The following services are to be provided: Transport facilities, Section 47 HOAI 2021, service phases 1–6. The stated project costs amount to approximately EUR 13,000,000 million net. Special services: Preparation of an overall route plan, preparation of signage, road-marking and diversion plans, participation in committee and citizen participation meetings. Due to the estimated contract value of the services to be awarded, the invitation to tender is being conducted Europe-wide under an open procedure. The tenders will be examined and evaluated on the basis of the required supporting documents and declarations, the submitted tender documents, and the published award criteria. The planning services are scheduled to begin in August 2026. Construction implementation is to take place in sections from 2027 and be completed in 2031. Procedure: open.
