The barrier-free upgrading of the heavily frequented Arndtstraße stops has long been demanded by citizens. For the renewal of the track systems, initial variants for the barrier-free upgrading of the Arndtstraße stops were examined in 2020 as part of preliminary planning for the entire expansion of the Große Diesdorfer Straße route. The expansion of the entire section of the Große Diesdorfer Straße track systems had to be postponed. In the meantime, repair measures were carried out in the track area of Große Diesdorfer Straße to ensure that the track systems remained passable. Due to the urgency, the barrier-free upgrading of the Arndtstraße stops is to be brought forward as a separate measure ahead of the overall expansion of the Große Diesdorfer Straße tram route.
