Opportunity description

The campus of the Lörrach Vocational School Center consists of 3 vocational schools and a sports hall with a current total of 3,658 students. The subject of the competition is Building A of the Lörrach Trade School. Overall, the Trade School consists of 4 buildings in which 1,358 students are taught. The condition of Building A, consisting of an older and a newer section of the building, does not meet the spatial requirements of a modern vocational school. Structural and functional deficiencies cause noticeable restrictions in building operations. The necessary space requirements cannot be met by the existing school building. Building A is now to be replaced to a substantial extent by a new building. The older section of the building that is suitable for preservation is to be renovated. In order to achieve the best possible economic, architectural, urban planning and open-space solution for Building A, with a large new-build component and a smaller renovation component, the Lörrach District Office has decided to conduct an architectural realization competition. When implementing the construction project, the contracting authority will commission one of the participants in the procurement phase with the planning services. A phased and section-by-section commission, initially up to service phase 2, is assured, provided that there is no compelling reason preventing the commission. The phased or section-by-section commissioning of the further service phases is envisaged subject to reservation. There is no legal entitlement to the transfer of all service phases.
