At the school center in Brilon, consisting of the Heinrich-Lübke-Schule (HLS) and Gymnasium Petrinum (PET), hazardous-material contamination (PCB, KMF) was identified, whereupon a concept involving partial renovation, partial dismantling and partial new construction was developed. The hazardous-material remediation and demolition work put out to tender in this bill of quantities relates to the existing Gymnasium Petrinum building. This procurement unit predominantly involves renovation of the existing building. To meet the school’s needs, a solid-construction extension for the administration is planned on the ground floor, and an upper-school building using timber-frame construction will be erected on the 1st upper floor as a set-back storey. To construct the extensions, the existing building must be demolished in these areas. First, the respective construction phases must undergo hazardous-material remediation.
