Conversion and expansion of the Westpfalz-Klinikum at the Kirchheimbolanden site The Westpfalz-Klinikum is located on the western outskirts of Kirchheimbolanden and consists of several building sections dating from different periods. The oldest part of the complex is inpatient building 5 and the treatment building connected to the north (outpatient clinics + operating theatre), dating from the mid-1950s. In the 1990s, extensions were added to the operating theatre department, the entrance area with cafeteria/staff catering facilities, and the intensive care department. From 2000 onwards, extensions were built onto the delivery suite, followed by the outpatient surgical centre and the new chief physician area in 2011. The last component built was the four-storey MVZ, directly connected to the emergency department. There are residential areas to the south, east, and north; to the west, there are no buildings in the immediate vicinity, but rather green meadows and fields leading uphill to wooded areas. As part of the planned project, the hospital will receive a new building on the eastern side of the hospital complex, as well as an additional storey on a north-eastern section of the building.
