As part of the ResNRJwater project (INTERREG North-West Europe 2021-2027, https://resnrjwater.nweurope.eu/), a scientific feasibility study is to examine the extent to which two municipal wastewater treatment plants can be developed as integrated energy hubs. The aim is to develop a transferable electricity, heat and contract model that takes into account the respective technical and infrastructural conditions, is economically viable and meets ecological requirements. The focus is particularly on: the assessment and optimization of existing and potential energy infrastructure, the analysis of storage and distribution options, the design of resilient operating strategies, the design of process engineering methods in the field of wastewater and sludge treatment, and the development of suitable contract models for involving external stakeholders and for legally compliant implementation in the municipal context.
