The Demonstration Center for Sector Coupling is being designed as a research building combining laboratory and office spaces. The building site is part of the research campus at Schleusengraben. In terms of building law, the Bergedorf 104 /Curslack 19 development plan is binding. The 3-story building will be positioned with its gable facing the street between Am Schleusengraben and the Schleusengraben along the southern property boundary. The parking spaces are located in the northern part of the property. The heating and refrigeration systems comprise heat and cooling generation, heat and cooling distribution, and space-heating and cooling surfaces for the Demonstration Center for Sector Coupling. The heat and cooling supply is provided by three reversible air-to-water heat pumps (chillers) installed on the roof, each with a heating capacity of approx. 30 kW and a cooling capacity of approx. 45 kW, supplemented by buffer storage tanks, an electric heater for covering peak loads, and a hydraulically balanced pipe distribution network made of copper and steel.
