Opportunity description
Installation of heating technology The City of Fulda intends to expand the Cuno-Raabe School at the Gallasiniring site through a combination of new construction and existing buildings. The construction project is divided into two main sections: Section A (new construction): Construction of a three-story, angled school wing with a central atrium. The building houses administrative areas, specialist classrooms, and modern learning clusters (classrooms, differentiation rooms, and multifunctional rooms) on the upper floors. Section B (existing building/church): Integration of a former church into the school campus through a "house-within-a-house" concept. The three-story installation comprises a cafeteria, teaching kitchen, all-day areas, and a media library. A particular highlight is the "play deck" on the 2nd upper floor beneath the church roof. Both sections are connected via a connecting structure on the upper floor, which creates a covered break area on the ground floor and emphasizes the central campus character. Trade description – heating: The installation of a modern heat supply and distribution system is planned for the Cuno-Raabe School campus. The central heat generation system will be housed in the basement of Section B (existing church) and will also supply the new building (Section A) via a local heating line already laid underground by others. The primary heat source is a highly efficient brine-to-water heat pump system in a two-unit cascade with a total thermal output of approx. 160 kW. It uses a geothermal probe field consisting of 21 boreholes that has already been constructed by others. A heat exchanger for passive cooling operation is planned to regenerate the probe field. A gas condensing boiler will be installed to cover peak loads, using the existing gas infrastructure and the chimney flue in the church bell tower. Domestic hot water is prepared decentrally throughout the property using electric instantaneous water heaters. Heating circuit manifolds with high-efficiency pumps and modulating mixers are used within the technical plant rooms. The piping in the plant room is made of steel, while pressed stainless-steel pipe is used for the subsequent distribution within the building and plastic pipe is used for the underfloor heating. Heat meters and energy valves are integrated for precise energy metering. Heat transfer throughout the new building is provided by individually room-controlled underfloor heating. In Section B, a combined system comprising underfloor heating, trench convectors, a special underfloor heating station in the altar area, and conventional radiators in the functional rooms (e.g. sacristy and WCs) will be implemented.
