Geothermal energy The University Hospital Cologne, represented by Medfacilities GmbH, is planning work on the existing geothermal well system on the University Hospital Cologne site at Kerpener Straße 62, 50937 Cologne. The measure is intended to optimize the controllability of volume flows within the geothermal network so that the bed tower can benefit directly from the improved control behavior when it is connected. For this measure, dismantling and conversion work is necessary, particularly to adapt the technical building equipment. It is intended to replace the existing flat slide valves in the return lines to the geothermal wells (summer wells 1+2 and winter wells 1+2) with plunger valves. To do this, it will be necessary to dismantle the respective duplicated DN150 flat slide valves, including the Y-pipes installed upstream and downstream. Stainless-steel adapters or reducers must then be fabricated in order to install the new plunger valves between the existing flange connections. In addition, further pipeline fittings are also to be installed as part of this measure. The adapters and reducers to be fabricated must be custom-made for the respective installation location. For this purpose, the contractor must independently determine the necessary dimensions on site and prepare a sketch. The effort required for this is requested in a separate item. Three of the plunger valves are located in the access shafts of the respective geothermal wells; the fourth valve is to be installed beneath the ceiling in one of the AWT corridors.
