Germany – Helpdesk and support services – Establishment and operation of an “Economic Independence” office (2027-2029)

Gender equality is a constitutional mandate pursuant to Art. 3(2) GG, and increasing women’s participation in employment is also an objective of the KoaV (lines 407-409). In order to meet these obligations and objectives, strengthening the economic independence of women and men and promoting economic equality is a declared objective of the Federal Government. This objective was set out both in the 2026 Annual Economic Report and in the Federal Government’s 7th Report on Poverty and Wealth. Imparting knowledge for economic decision-making throughout the course of life (e.g. the financial consequences of part-time work, care work and the choice of tax class) is a key lever for this purpose. The work of the “Economic Independence” office is also intended to build on this. To provide technical, evidence-based and communications support to the responsible specialist unit, the establishment and operation of an external “Economic Independence” office for the period from 01.02.2027 to 31.12.2029 is being put out to Europe-wide tender.
