Germany – Installation of doors and windows – Conversion and renovation of former barracks building 4004 into a family center, Ludwigshöhviertel - Window works and exterior doors

Opportunity description

In Darmstadt's Ludwigshöhviertel, a new residential area for around 3,100 residents, the conversion and renovation of former barracks building 4004 into a family center incorporating a youth center and rooms for community work, as well as the design of new outdoor facilities, are planned. The building is part of the new education campus of the City of Science Darmstadt. In the future, the education campus will consist of four buildings: the family center in the south, former barracks building 4001 (future use unknown) in the west, and the new Ludwigshöhviertel daycare center and Ludwigshöhviertel elementary school buildings. The listed former barracks building 4004, Ludwigshöhviertel, will be converted into a family center and, as part of a comprehensive renovation measure, will receive new exterior doors and wooden windows. Installation is to be carried out as a one-for-one replacement so that the building is not left open to the weather and the openings do not all have to be provisionally closed. The 98 windows of various sizes must be manufactured as wooden muntin windows (Viennese muntins) in accordance with heritage protection requirements (production of a sample window). They will be installed behind the sandstone surrounds on the individual floors and as dormer windows in the roof area. The sun protection fitted to the windows will be designed as a screen and positioned between the sandstone surrounds and the window frame. The exterior window sills will also be installed in accordance with heritage protection requirements. The 3 exterior doors on the south side are also planned as wooden doors. The interior window sills will be installed after an interruption period.
