Chemnitz Central Wastewater Treatment Plant - Construction of a 2nd server room A Siemens PCS 7 process control system has been in use since 2017 to operate and monitor the process engineering processes of the Chemnitz Central Wastewater Treatment Plant. Physical access to the facilities and the control technology is currently secured by a multi-level system. The following security measures have been implemented from the outside in. Fencing around the facility (in the simplest design without monitoring), two electrically powered access gates with video surveillance without recording, entry service between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the entrance to the operations building, exterior doors to the operations building can only be opened with a key or company ID card. Network connections, including those on the grounds of the ZKA, are essentially secured by dongles. The operator has established numerous organizational provisions intended to provide further protection for the systems. Additional requirements must be implemented. To maintain facility operation in compliance with the permit and to protect the system against internal and external threats while fulfilling the statutory requirements of the NIS2 Directive, the following measures must be implemented: 1. Construction of a second server room outside the operations building. 2. Access points to the process control technology networks that are part of this measure must be physically secured by suitable locking systems. 3.
