The municipality of Gemmingen, together with the district of Stebbach, is located approximately 16 km west of Heilbronn in the northeastern Kraichgau and is part of the Heilbronn district. In the course of the district and territorial reform, the municipality of Stebbach was incorporated into Gemmingen in 1974. The "volunteer fire brigades," which had continued to exist separately since then, joined forces and decided to consolidate their emergency personnel and equipment at a shared fire station. This requires a new fire station building in a location conveniently situated for both districts. Since the existing municipal works yard on Industriestraße, which likewise needs to be renewed, meets this criterion, it was decided to construct both new buildings at this location, with the possibility of utilizing synergies. The new volunteer fire station will have 5 vehicle bays for 6 vehicles; the MTW (crew transport vehicle) and the RW (rescue vehicle) will be parked one behind the other. In addition, there will be a separate garage parking space for a disaster response vehicle belonging to the local DRK association. In addition to vehicle parking spaces in the yard area, the municipal works yard also requires parking spaces for winter service vehicles in a heatable vehicle hall, as well as a workshop for the vehicles.
