The conversion and renovation of the former barracks building 4004 into a family center is planned, integrating a youth center and rooms for community work, as well as the design of new outdoor facilities in the exterior area. The building is part of the City of Darmstadt's education campus. In the future, the education campus will consist of four buildings: the family center in the south, the former barracks building 4001 (future use unknown) in the west, and the new buildings of the Ludwigshöhviertel daycare center and the Ludwigshöhviertel elementary school. The former barracks building 4004 will undergo complete renovation and comprises a basement and three upper floors. A lift system with 4 stops will be installed centrally in the building. This will provide barrier-free access.
