Opportunity description

Integration of the Rohde & Schwarz Elcrodat 7 MC cryptographic devices into the air segments in the Pegasus project due to the obsolescence of the current devices. Two Collins AR-1500 radios are installed in the PEGASUS air segment. These cannot transmit encrypted communications. In order to achieve encryption at "SECRET"and "NATO SECRET" level, additional cryptographic devices of the Rohde & Schwarz Elcrodat 4-2 (ED 4-2) type are planned. The ED4-2 uses an encryption algorithm that will foreseeably be phased out and is no longer current. The exact date on which the key will be deactivated is classified SECRET. The ED4-2 will become obsolete when the key is phased out. Therefore, the successor device, the Rohde & Schwarz Elcrodat 7 MC, must be installed in each case and the old device replaced. The ED-7 from R&S is generally eligible for aviation certification; only a few tests, which are not the subject of this contract, are currently still outstanding. The device must be certified as part of the overall PEGASUS certification in the DEMAR area. The devices are procured by BAAINBw I5.5 as part of the Bundeswehr cryptographic modernization project and made available to the projects.
