Opportunity description
Due to the expected amount of activity in the exhaust air, FAIR will be required in the future to operate an exhaust air measurement system that specifies the composition and activity of the discharge. In the permit applications for the construction of FAIR, FAIR GmbH specified the maximum amount of activity in the exhaust air through conservative estimates using maximum beam parameters and covering beam scenarios. Due to the expected amount of activity in the exhaust air, FAIR will be required in the future to operate an exhaust air measurement system that specifies the composition and activity of the discharge. The sampling system should consist of a sampling rack that takes a representative air sample of approximately 1/1000 of the exhaust air volume flow, transports it to the measuring devices via a loop system, and returns it to the exhaust air stream after the measurement. The measuring system should enable continuous measurement of radioactive aerosols and gaseous radioactive nuclides. Gamma spectrometric measurements should be performed in parallel or subsequently during both measurements. Procedure: neg-w-call.
