Opportunity description
Procurement of a rescue vehicle The detailed information can be found in the specifications for Lot 1. Important note regarding items 56 and 57 of the bill of quantities: A driver airbag and side airbag are required for the described chassis. This requirement must be met. Reason for this: The new rescue vehicle to be procured, like the current rescue vehicle, will mainly respond to incidents on Federal Motorway 7. The utmost urgency is required here, as human lives are often at risk and the journey is therefore always made using emergency signals. Once the rescue vehicle has arrived on the motorway, it usually travels through an emergency corridor to the incident location. Collisions may occur here due to inattentiveness on the part of waiting road users. Furthermore, the rescue vehicle is also intended to be deployed with the newly established Lower Saxony district fire brigade response unit. This will also involve longer journeys on the motorway and, where applicable, in difficult terrain. During a flood response in such difficult terrain, the FTZ's Unimog has already tilted sideways, as the ground is not always fully visible. The employees must be given special protection here. Employee safety comes first. Even though airbags are not currently considered standard equipment, it must not be forgotten that newly purchased vehicles remain in service for the next 30 years and are used frequently. The rescue vehicle must therefore already be equipped with the future in mind in order to provide employees with the greatest possible protection, since the contracting authority, as an employer, has a corresponding duty of care toward its male and female employees.
