Pursuant to Section 49(1) of the Thuringian Roads Act (ThürStrG), municipalities are required to clean all public roads within built-up areas in order to maintain safety and order. The contract was not divided into lots, but was awarded as an overall service and comprised 190,000 sweeping kilometers per week, 9.880,000 sweeping kilometers per year. Mechanical street cleaning included cleaning the roadway gutters along both sides of the curb, removing leaves, sand, grit, litter and other contaminants, cleaning traffic islands and roundabouts, and cleaning parking bays along the roadway. The cleaning serves to ensure road safety, ensure proper water drainage, prevent damage to the building fabric and maintain a proper cityscape. Procedure: open.
