Greece – Irrigation works – CHOCHLAKIA RESERVOIR, LASITHI PREFECTURE, AND ACCOMPANYING WORKS, AND AGIOS IOANNIS DAM, IERAPETRA, LASITHI PREFECTURE, AND BASIC IRRIGATION WATER UTILIZATION WORKS

Opportunity description

The project concerns the implementation of all required studies, the construction, financing, operation and maintenance of irrigation infrastructure in the areas of Ag. Ioannis (Municipality of Ierapetra) and Chochlakia (Municipality of Sitia in the Regional Unit of Lasithi) and includes the construction of a dam in Agios Ioannis and its irrigation network, as well as a reservoir in Chochlakia with the accompanying works and utilization through the underground installation and optimization of the existing irrigation network in the area. The construction of the Project will be implemented through the parallel construction of two geographically and operationally independent irrigation networks, of which the first is located in the Palekastro and Lagkada area of the Municipality of Sitia and the second in the Ag. Ioannis area of the Municipality of Ierapetra. These two irrigation infrastructures constitute the entirety of the Project. The duration of the Partnership Agreement is twenty-five years (25), including the construction period of the Project. In summary, the subject matter of the Partnership Agreement concerns: • In the Palekastro and Lagkada area of the Municipality of Sitia, the construction and operation of an earth reservoir in Chochlakia with a total volume of approximately 825,000 cubic meters, together with its accompanying works (water conveyance works and transfer to the irrigated areas, pumping stations. tanks, etc.), to enhance the coverage of the irrigation needs of the existing irrigation networks, and covers an irrigated area of approximately 6,000 stremmas. • In the Agios Ioannis area, the construction of the Ag. Ioannis–Ierapetra dam, 52 m high and with a total volume of approximately 1.7 million cubic meters, and the basic irrigation water utilization works (conveyance works, pumping station, tanks, irrigation-network distribution works), covering an irrigated area of approximately 7,500 stremmas. The first section of the Project in the Municipality of Sitia will be delivered complete and operational within a period of 18 months, while the entire project will be completed within a period of 42 months from the signing of the Project contract.
