Waterschap Limburg (hereinafter: WL) manages approximately 188 kilometers of primary flood defenses, divided over 46 dike sections. These sections must be assessed within the duration of LBO2 in accordance with the Environment Regulation and the nationally applicable assessment instrument (BOI). Carrying out these assessments requires specialist knowledge in the fields of flood safety, geotechnics, hydraulics, and probabilistic analyses. In addition, the assessment process requires a careful and uniform working method, in which quality and reproducibility are of great importance. WL has an internal team with substantive expertise in the fields of flood safety and LBO2 assessments. Given the scale of the task, the complexity of the assessments, and the available internal capacity, WL has chosen to engage external support to carry out the remaining assessments.
