Resistance in rats and house mice to anticoagulant-based rodenticides is a major problem. The 2022 study shows that resistance is observed in 38 percent of the house mice examined, and in 17 percent of brown rats. In the 2012 study, this was 25 percent. The researchers therefore advise continuing resistance monitoring not only for rats but also for house mice. Because these are among the highest-risk biocides, policies and rules aimed at minimal and professional use of these products are necessary. Since 2024, companies have been required to work in accordance with IPM, and a regulatory amendment for IPM use is planned for 2027.
