The SED organization is carrying out this procedure on behalf of the AWBF. ABWF (formerly: Centraal Afvalverwerkingsbedrijf Westfriesland) is the owner of the former Westwoud landfill, located at the Zittend in Westwoud, registered in the Land Registry as municipality of Drechterland, section M parcel numbers 649, 650, 651 652 and municipality of Venhuizen section T, parcel number 220 (approximately 30 ha in total), hereinafter referred to as “Westwoud site”. by decision of 22 April 2026, ABWF opted to implement the aftercare of the Westwoud site from 1 January 2027 by concluding an agreement with Bodemzorg for the long-term aftercare of the Westwoud site. The entirety of measures and activities aimed at the environmental management of the Westwoud site in order to comply with the duty-of-care principle as referred to in Article 1.7a of the Environment and Planning Act, which in any case includes (i) carrying out regular inspection and monitoring activities, (ii) performing maintenance work and (iii) taking (risk-)mitigating measures, insofar as and as soon as these are necessary to prevent adverse environmental consequences. The environmental management will be structured and carried out in such a way that, during the contract period of thirty (30) years, a robust management structure is established that complies with the Environmental obligations and addresses the associated risks in line with the aforementioned duty-of-care principle, all aimed at minimizing as far as possible the remaining aftercare efforts after 31 December 2056.
