The subject of the contract is the extension of the right flood embankment of the Wieprz River along the section in the new embankment chainage from km 0+000 ÷ 5+677, as part of the investment project entitled “Improving flood safety in the town of Dęblin”. The embankment protects the Dęblin-Masów valley located between Dęblin Airport and the railway bridge on the section at the mouth of the Vistula River. This area is inhabited by approximately 4 thousand residents. Residential, farm, public utility and infrastructure buildings, as well as road infrastructure, and in particular the military facilities of the Military Aviation Base in Dęblin, are at risk of flooding. The area protected by flood embankments is approximately 10.8 km2. The award of the contract is purposeful and justified by the need to carry out the activities necessary to prepare and implement the investment, which will contribute to limiting flood risk and reducing potential social, economic and environmental losses. Implementation of the contract is a condition for achieving the intended effects of the project and carrying out the tasks of PGW Wody Polskie in the field of flood protection. The task is intended to be financed from state budget funds at the disposal of the Minister of Infrastructure and from European Union funds under the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment 2021–2027 programme (FEnIKS).
