Public procurement of Metaverse platform development services and implementation of a Digital Twin management system for the DANUBIUS-RI infrastructure Hub, within the Project with the acronym DANUBIUS-RO-2, Financing Contract for Programme 5.9 Research in areas of strategic interest, Subprogramme 5.9.4 River, delta, sea systems – DANUBIUS under the National Research, Development and Innovation Plan 2022–2027, No. 1D of 03.10.2025. The National Institute of Research and Development for Biological Sciences Bucharest (INCDSB) coordinates at national level the DANUBIUS-RO project, which finances the construction and operationalisation of the Romanian components of the pan-European DANUBIUS-RI infrastructure: the Hub and the Danube Delta Supersite. DANUBIUS-RO is established as a complex network of laboratories, field stations and observation points intended for monitoring the marine, coastal and river environment, with emphasis on areas of strategic interest such as the Danube Delta, the Black Sea coast and the lower Danube sector. The continuous development of the research infrastructure through the applied research projects carried out by INCDSB and its partners in the Danube Delta Biosphere area – including within national and European programmes dedicated to monitoring natural risks, environmental protection and adaptation to climate change – requires particular attention to the sustainability and resilience of the complex of buildings belonging to the Hub in Murighiol. It must support increasingly large flows of scientific data, images and complex measurements originating from the field, with a view to transmitting them to the processing and analysis centres in Murighiol, Tulcea, Galați, Constanța and Bucharest. In the context of the expansion of the network of observation points and the increase in the volume of information generated by monitoring and research equipment, it has become necessary to modernise the infrastructure for the integrated processing of the collected data. Therefore, it is necessary to procure services for the Development of the Metaverse platform and implementation of a Digital Twin management system for the DANUBIUS-RI infrastructure Hub, enabling the unified integration of data collected within the Hub laboratories and the related activities of the Danube Delta Supersite for monitoring the marine and river environment, geodynamic risks and coastal erosion processes. This infrastructure will contribute to improving analysis, early warning and decision-support capabilities, strengthening the role of INCDSB and institutional partners in the sustainable management of resources and the efficient organisation of research ecosystems of national and European importance.
