Opportunity description
The planned new construction of the Allmend primary school building aims to create future-proof, sustainable and pedagogically functional infrastructure for primary grades 1 to 6. The four-storey structure will be erected using conventional timber construction on the school grounds and will replace the existing outdoor sports facility (“Red Square”) there. The geological and hydrogeological conditions on the site are considered challenging. In particular, two groundwater levels that must be kept separate must be taken into account. The subsoil requires a pile foundation (concrete displacement bored piles), including for utility lines and inspection chambers (timber piles). With regard to flood protection, the new building meets the HQ300 requirements- The building services will be located on the ground floor and top floor (no basement) to prevent damage from flood events. The building’s load-bearing structure is based on a solid timber frame made of spruce/fir. This is supplemented by three solid reinforced-concrete service cores. The spiral staircases between the service cores are also constructed of reinforced concrete. The façade consists of prefabricated timber-frame exterior elements. The building will be certified according to SNBS 2.1 Building Construction (the goal is Gold certification). The energy supply will be provided through a connection to the local SeeEnergy district heating network (heat in winter, cooling water in summer). All areas will be equipped with underfloor heating. All floor coverings are made of polished industrial concrete and serve as thermal mass and light free cooling with regard to summer overheating hours. Control is provided via room thermostats using the specified setpoint. For electricity generation, a building-integrated photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof, which will serve as the roof covering. Metal brise-soleil structures along the east and west façades serve as shade providers and form the façade’s structural weather protection. In the area of building services, the installation of a mechanical ventilation system is planned only in the areas of the internal cores and the assembly hall. The classrooms will receive fresh air through manual natural window ventilation. The building is fully accessible without barriers. The planned school building, with a total height of approximately 19 m and hybrid construction, is considered a medium-height building. Fire-protection planning will be carried out in accordance with quality level QSS 2 of the VKF fire-protection guideline. The landscaping is based on the design concept “Center 1st + 2nd Stage” and contributes to the development of a unified public open space in the center of Horw. The school playground will be designed as a traffic-free, publicly accessible space, taking into account its extracurricular shared use. The school garden is intended exclusively for school use and is designed accordingly in a child-friendly and natural manner. In the interests of climate adaptation and the promotion of biodiversity. Procedure: open. Review the original TED notice for the complete requirement, lots, amendments and attachments.
