The police and the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) rely on reliable and efficient identity verification in the performance of their duties. Fingerprint data play a central role in this, both in routine checks and in forensic investigations. The framework agreement for the existing devices is expiring. PTI Switzerland is procuring a framework contract with an integrator for the provision, integration and operation of two systems for capturing fingerprints: a mobile system (scanner on police officers' smartphones) and a contactless system (app-based capture of fingerprints and facial images via iPhones, connected to MACS/eneXs). Under the framework contract, the PTI partners (including fedpol, FOCBS, SEM, cantonal and municipal police forces, and Swiss representations abroad) are to be able to obtain systems and services from the successful tenderer.
